Newest Project

So because we have been working on the backyard, I have also decided that we need some stuff for the kids to play with.  A few weeks ago, I picked up some playground/kick balls.  Because we don't have any concrete, yet; I decided they needed another way to play with them.

I used to have a lot of fun playing soccer, so I designed and built (Matt helped) a soccer goal.  Matt's step-Dad and Mom had some left over netting that they let me have, so all I needed was pvc and joints to put it together. I already had the zip ties.

Just a side note: I love zip ties, I have used them for so many things.  When my sister and I were little, we spent just about every Saturday with our Dad (my Mom had to work full time hours on Saturday's).  Dad always called it junkin' or bummin', either way we always ended up back at the shop where he worked.  He either needed to pick up tools/parts, help somebody else, or just B.S. with the guys.  Some of the guys he worked with became like uncles or brothers to us.  Inevitably Heather would pick on them and they would retaliate.  One time Heather was being an especially big pain so one of the guys zip tied her to the stair rail.  Zip ties make excellent hand cuffs for kids- No I have not used this on my kids, although some days it is a temptation.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand.  My soccer goal is by no means regulations size, it is just for them to kick a ball into.  I made mine 5 ft. tall by 5 ft. long cause that is half of a pipe and made the math really simple.  Most of the time with a project like this I wouldn't even glue it, cause it will hold well enough and you may want to break it down to store it, for the winter.

I think it turned out awesome.
