Martin Loves My Giant Ginger Cookies

I will be honest, the recipe that I make the best is from The Better Homes And Gardens Cookbook.  I love that cookbook by the way.  I have grown a following of one, my brother in law - Martin (a lot of other people like what I make as well).  He loves them.  It it now a joke between the two of us, as to how I am his dealer.  I deal in "contraban food items".

Over the years, I have looked for ways to make them healthier.  I have tried gluten free - for my sister.  I have tried low cholesterol, by using apple sauce instead of crisco - for my Dad.  Every time I am kindly, but sternly told to quit messing them up.  Apparently it is just not the same.

I always make him up about three dozen for Christmas.  I am trying to cut down on the amount of time I spend in the kitchen, this year I might give them to him as frozen dough.  Have I mentioned that I love these cookies too, they are so yummy.  I always add a bit more cinnamon, they can't have too much.
