No HFCS: Butterfingers

Why do butter finger candy bars have to have yellow dye in them.  I will never understand why the human race cannot eat food that looks like the natural color.  I think it is totally crazy to have food that has to have dyes in them.  I got this recipe from

The first thing needed is to butter your pan

Mix 1 C. peanut butter, 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla, and 1/4 tsp. salt together and heat for a few seconds in the microwave, until warm

Mix 1 C. sugar, 1/3 C. light corn syrup (I used honey), and 1/2 C. water in a pan.

And heat until 290 degrees (be careful it boils over really easily), using a candy thermometer.

Mix suger mixture and peanut butter mixture together, and spread in buttered pan.

Let cool for about 5 minutes and then top with 3/4 C. of chocolate chips.

Let the chocolate chips melt and spread them smooth.  Then put in refrigerator to cool for about 30 minutes (I put them on a hot pad, in case they were to hot for my glass shelves).

I think they are kid tested and approved.  And yes her eyes really are that blue.
