Food Storage Friday: Vacuum Sealing

So a few years ago we started investing in food storage.  We're LDS, it's kinda what we do.  We to a hiatus from it for a while, due to finances and having three crazy babies.  Now we are going back into it.  This is kind of one of my new projects.

When we started our food storage, we bought a ton of rice.  Well we tried another method of storing it and that didn't really work for us.  So we decided as one of the first things that we do, will be to properly store the rice.

Enter "Daphne"- our new food saver.  We love our Daphne.  Matt said that vacuum sealing has become a bit addicting.  He loves it.

We got quite a bit of it done.  After we vacuum sealed it then to keep little creatures from chewing on it (no, we do not have a mouse problem, but you don't want to go through all of the cost and work to risk having it ruined), we put it in a big plastic bin.  We also keep ours in a cool, dark, and dry place.  That is the best way to keep it for years.

It makes me happy to see the progress happening.
