Low GI Meals: Sloppy Joes

So I really like sloppy joes as a quick evening meal on busy night.  I have made sloppy joes home made for years and my family really likes them.  The problem has always been the buns, they are generally high glycemic.  Instead I made mine on a whole grain bread.  

I generally cook up my pound of ground turkey and then pour in a can of petite diced tomatoes and an envelope of sloppy joe seasoning.  Then let it heat through.  One Sloppy joe is pretty much 1/4 of your plate is meat and 1/4 carbohydrate.  Then all I add is a salad and that is my 1/2 a plate vegetable.  Yum.
