As this week was finally a week that we were able attend actual Church, we also needed to plan a lesson. Of course the lesson that we planned still had to be about commandments. We have been given more commands than just the 10 Commandments. This week, I read up on the Word of Wisdom.
In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, we are told not to consume alcohol of any type. The only thing alcohol is good for is cleaning things, such as the body. If you look at all of the problems that alcohol causes and I can say that this is the best advice that can be given on the use of alcohol.
We are also told not to use tobacco or coffee/tea. I have thought about this a lot, I find this advice excellent as well. So many people gets addicted and then come to rely on these substances to function in daily life. I have seen many who can afford cigarettes, but not food. I have also seen many who have to have their coffee in order to wake up in the morning. The Church has warned about these substances in order to avoid addictions.
We are also counseled on what types of things to eat and when they should be eaten. Such as how we should eat meat sparingly and how grains and fruits and vegetables are to be eaten as much as we need. We are told if we follow this, we shall run and not be weary and walk and not faint. I love this advice we are given to follow.
